Alpari expands sailing sponsorship

Global trading group Alpari, title sponsor of the Alpari World Match Racing Tour sailing series, will support the BlackMatch Racing team at this week’s Monsoon Cup in Malaysia. The New Zealand-based team will be renamed the Alpari Racing Team for the season finale, scheduled to begin on Monday 3rd December. In addition, according to an official press release, ‘members of the Alpari Racing Team will wear Alpari-branded apparel. They will also take part in Alpari’s on-site events, including a live forex trading contest against the other skippers.’ Financial terms of the deal were not released.

Alpari team skipper Adam Minoprio said: “We need to perform in Malaysia because it would definitely help to put our case forward for a tour card next year. It’s a statement of intent to the Tour that we’re the guys they need to have on the series. We’ll give it everything to get a result.

“We’re really pleased to have this support from Alpari and it’ll help us to go to the event and do it properly. With some of the finance taken care of, we can focus on sailing.”

David Hodge, marketing director at Alpari UK, added: “Adam is a strong contender and has displayed some of the values we share as a business – drive, determination and teamwork. We at the Alpari companies are committed to sailing and proud to support Adam at the season finale.”

The Monsoon Cup is scheduled to run until 8th December 2012 at the Ri-Yaz Heritage Marina Resort and Spa, Terengganu, Malaysia.
