October wasn’t a good month for the Oracle Team USA, which capsized one of its lean, mean sailing machines in the San Francisco Bay during an afternoon practice to defend the 34th America’s Cup title next year. But there was good news, too, for the team. This season, a new TAG Heuer watch within the Aquaracer series – TAG has partnered with Oracle Team USA in its bid to retain the America’s Cup for the U.S. – is making its debut. The Aquaracer 500M Ceramic 41MM, a slick, ocean blue-faced watch with a jaunty steel and yellow gold bracelet, is the star of the new Aquaracer Ceramic collection. A key improvement in this Aquaracer series is the replacement of a rubber bezel with a ceramic bezel, which offers extreme strength for a watch preferred by extreme watersportsmen.
All members of the Oracle team will be using Aquaracer timepieces. While two limited-edition pieces with “Team USA” or “Defender” logos already are tempting watch enthusiasts, the new Ceramic collection also is a looker winking at city hipsters in dry dock.
