The Vendée Globe is arguably the toughest sailing race in the world and in theory an utterly simple affair. A sailing race around the world, for singlehanded sailors, without any stopover or outside assistance allowed. France to France, leave Antarctica to Starboard.
That´s it. In theory at least, because beyond this, the Vendée Globe is the stuff of legends. Kito de Pavant is one of the heroes taking on this legendary race and only time will show whether the laughing cow of his sponsor Bel Group, emblazoned on his red yacht, will have the last laugh.
In one of the last big races before the Vendée, the Transat Jacques Vabre, Kito and his partner Yann Regniau finished an excellent 5th and showed that the yacht is capable of weathering wild storms, the speeds to match the best and finishing at the top in any race.
In a challenge of this dimension where no outside assistance is allowed as soon as the yachts have crossed the starting line, there is no Plan B and nothing is left to chance. That is why Kito has chosen Marinepool as his clothing supplier.
He has teamed up with our highly experienced designers to develop an offshore racing drysuit tailored for his needs and for the toughest conditions in the Southern Ocean. The result is the ultimate offshore suit, uncompromising and hard wearing, yet light weight and superbly comfortable.
In the 2008/2009 edition of the Vendée Kito had to retire due to a dismasting, a feat that brutally brought back into mind that one has to finish first in order to win. Finishing is therefore paramount and we all wish Kito
the very best and support him in his
dream:
