The Swiss team Alinghi has given Valencia the catamaran that raced in the 33rd America’s Cup after their decision to leave later this month, the base held at the port of Valencia from the development of the sailing competition, as confirmed by this Friday press conference in the city’s mayor, Rita Barbera. The former mayor has indicated that Ernesto Bertarelli has written a “a very affectionate letter” in which he thanked the city for its “hospitality” and that he “feels very Valencian.” The Swiss team has decided to donate to the city the catamaran to compete in the finals of the America’s Cup in its waters so that it would be on display and visited by all of Valencia and its visitors.
