Clear Channel takes America’s Cup to the airwaves

Clear Channel Media and Entertainment San Francisco has been named as the official radio partner for the 34th America’s Cup.

As part of the agreement, Clear Channel San Francisco AM News/Talk radio stations, KKSF and KNEW, will become the flagship stations for America’s Cup coverage with information and updates throughout the year.

In addition, the network’s five FM stations will promote the many additional ‘lifestyle’ events around next year’s America’s Cup, which takes place in San Francisco Bay from July to September.

The America’s Cup will also exploit Clear Channel’s digital platforms to promote the prestigious event over the coming months.

“Teaming up with Clear Channel will increase our ability to reach our fans, especially in the Bay Area, as we move into 2013, the Year of the America’s Cup,” said Stephen Barclay, chief executive of the America’s Cup.

J.D. Freeman, San Francisco market president at Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, added: “We are extremely excited about our alliance with the America’s Cup. Our goal is to bring attention to this world class event in this world class city.”
