The Yacht Club of Saint Petersburg’s Swan 60, Bronenosec, is headed towards Palma, Spain, for the start of the Regata Copa del Rey Audi Mapfre which starts on the 14th July and runs through to the 21st. Having now competed in the Palma Vela, Rolex Volcano Race, and Giraglia Rolex Cup, the Swan 60 is heading back to Palma to continue its 2012 Mediterranean campaign which has been going from strength to strength, and the Commodore of the Yacht Club of Saint Petersburg, Vladimir Liubomirov, has high hopes for the boat and its crew:…
“I am confident that Bronenosec will perform well at the Copa del Rey. Our team work and boat handling have been getting much better, and I think that our performance at the Giraglia Rolex Cup shows that. This regatta is also a special one for the boat and the team. April was the last time we sailed in Palma and it was to compete in our first race in the Swan 60. I am excited to see how much we have improved as a team and to continue building on our combined experience to keep going fast and to keep getting good results.”
The event, which is organized by the Real Club Nautico de Palma and the Real Federacion Espanola de Vela, expects to run two races daily from the 16th July till the 21st July. Races are due to start at 1300 daily, and Bronenosec’s progress can be followed via the event website which can be found here.
