Italian superyacht builder Overmarine will expand his facilities in Pisa to build a new generation of steel and aluminium hulled motoryachts that will extend the maximum build length from 50m (164ft) to 70m (230ft). Currently its range of yachts are constructed from composites, with moulding completed at its Massa facility, and outfitting of Mangusta performance motoryachts carried out in Viareggio. The new Pisa facility will have a total land area of 22,000m2 divided into four bays allowing the simultaneous construction of both steel and aluminium yachts.
The considerable investment in this new facility has been funded privately by the Balducci family who owns Overmarine. Both Overmarine and Codecassa are finding the space in Viareggio cramped with little room for expansion. The sites along the canal at Pisa have been a centre for yacht building for a long time but this expansion with brand new facilities will enable much larger motor yachts to be built there and there is further space for expansion.
